Begin Again...at the end of the year? Exactly!

Apr 21, 2022

Begin…again. It's almost the end of the school year; in fact, as I write this, it's almost MAY!

But I believe that it’s never too late to begin again which is why I’m writing to you, dear educators, about starting over, even when it seems like the end.

Because there is so much in our teaching world that seems to be happening again: for some, it means pandemic protocol like masks again or online learning again; for others, it's old patterns in our schools that makes us think, “Are we back here again?”

But begin again we must.

And as an educator or administrator, it means you continue your many roles like:

clown

content expert

evaluator

coach

stand-up comedian to 10 year-olds

therapist

parent

colleague

dorm head & snack/feed czar

yoda + UN mediator to parents

time master (because if you don’t get that grading done, that shizzle will crush you.)

I began this coaching work in order to learn how to manage my mind and feel better at school.

And that is my mission now: to help YOU gain a deeper understanding of YOU: what challenges are you facing on campus?

How can you feel better about your own teaching and begin again to love yourself in this profession that needs you so desperately?

Can you name just one thing?

Try this: at your next prep or planning time, set a timer for 3 minutes and just write down any and everything that’s in your mind. No edits. No changes. Just write.

I believe teachers have incredible intuition, (maybe because we work with younger humans?), and we can call on that intuition at any moment in the classroom.

Remember, you already have everything you need inside of you to be successful at school. And when your brain forgets that and starts telling you how you’re not enough or need to grade more or whatever silly thought distortions it sends your way, remind it to begin again.

Have an amazing week, my teaching warriors.

Best,

Chrissy
